About me
Ciao. My name is Andrea Cobelli and I am a native Italian translator and a DTP specialist, originally from Lake Garda, but adopted by Manchester since 2014.
I got an MA in Translation and Interpreting at the University of Manchester in 2019 and a BA in Modern Languages at the University of Verona in Italy in 2011, where I intensively studied English, Spanish and French.
Since 2021 I am a Professional Member and a Chartered Linguist of the CIOL and I am a member of the North West Translators’ Network NWTN.
As a translator I have been working with many translation agencies on various kind of texts. Before my freelance career, I worked as
in-house employee for a big company for many years within the language field, and my last job role was Translation management and Language solutions expert. My preferred CAT tool is SDL Trados 2021 and I have my license for it, but I also worked with Memsource, MemoQ, SDL Worldserver and Trados.
In terms of DTP I do text extraction, text insertion, typesetting, graphic localisation and layout creation. I have previous experiences as a web designer where I acquired the necessary skills for DTP services, being proficient with software such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Affinity Designer, Affinity Publisher, Scribus, LibreOffice Draw, LibreOffice Writer, Microsoft Word, Publisher and PowerPoint. So far I’ve worked with 57 languages, both left-to-right and right-to-left.
